Our Services
Counselling is a therapeutic process aimed at helping individuals, children, families, and couples navigate through various life challenges and emotional difficulties. It provides a safe and confidential space for individuals to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors with a trained professional, often called a counsellor or therapist. Through active listening, empathy, and guidance, counsellors assist clients in gaining insight into their problems, developing coping strategies, and making positive changes in their lives.
Individual Counselling
Individual counselling serves as a transformative tool for personal development and healing. Many seek therapy to gain insight into their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It helps individuals navigate difficult emotions, process past traumas, and enhance relationships. Counselling fosters self-awareness and self-acceptance, contributing to overall well-being. If you're prepared to instigate positive change and shape the life you desire, Lakeside Clinical Counselling is here to support you.
Divorce & Co-Parenting Counselling
At Lakeside Clinical Counselling, our divorce and co-parenting services help families strengthen bonds, improve communication, and navigate change with compassion. Whether you’re transitioning through separation, adjusting to co-parenting, or seeking healthier communication, our team is here to help you build stability and connection.
Our counsellors are trained in conflict resolution, mediation, and co-parenting counselling, using evidence-based approaches to address challenges and rebuild trust. We provide practical tools to support respectful dialogue, set healthy boundaries, and foster resilience within the family.
We also offer Hear the Child Reports, giving children a safe, neutral space to share their thoughts and feelings. Jessica Alderliesten, MSW RSW, is a registered member of the Hear the Child Society, committed to ensuring children’s voices are heard and respected in family law processes.
Our goal is to help families move forward with understanding and confidence- creating more harmonious relationships and a positive foundation for the future.
Couples Counselling
As relationships progress, they often encounter obstacles that can provoke feelings of loneliness within the partnership. These obstacles may stem from communication breakdowns, trust deficits, conflicts, or emotional detachment, all of which can place strains on the relationship, resulting in feelings of sadness, frustration, or anxiety. Therapy offers a secure environment to address these challenges, facilitating constructive dialogue, rebuilding trust, and resolving conflicts effectively. Through therapy, individuals can acquire essential skills and receive the necessary support to cultivate the deep connection they desire. Our therapists are proficient in Emotionally Focused Therapy and Gottman Method Couples Therapy, ensuring comprehensive assistance tailored to your specific needs.
Teen & Children’s Counselling
Our sessions offer a safe space for children and teenagers to explore and understand their emotions, addressing stress, anxiety, and emotional difficulties. We integrate play therapy, art therapy, and cognitive-behavioral techniques to foster resilience and emotional well-being. Play therapy utilizes toys and games for non-verbal expression, benefiting younger children or those struggling with verbal communication. Art therapy provides another avenue for self-expression through drawings and paintings. Additionally, we adapt cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to teach coping skills and problem-solving strategies. Family involvement is crucial, addressing familial dynamics and supporting overall well-being. With these approaches and family engagement, we effectively support children in navigating challenges and promoting healthy development.
Hear the Child Reports
Hear the Child Reports provide children with a safe, neutral space to share their experiences and perspectives during separation or divorce. Conducted by Jessica Alderliesten, MSW RSW, a registered member of the BC Hear the Child Society, these interviews ensure that children’s voices are heard and respectfully reflected in family decisions. Jessica’s warm, child-centered approach helps families, lawyers, and the courts better understand what matters most to each child- supporting fair, compassionate, and informed outcomes.
