Cheryl Koressel, MA, RMFT
Registered Marriage and Family Therapist
Finding balance at home, at work, or in relationships can be hard- especially when life feels overwhelming or when ADHD, anxiety, or family stress make daily routines more challenging. Cheryl helps children, teens, and adults understand their emotions, build self-confidence, and create meaningful change in their relationships and everyday life.
With over a decade of experience in community mental health and private practice, Cheryl has supported individuals and families through stress, neurodivergence, parenting challenges, and life transitions. She holds a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Antioch University Seattle and a Bachelor’s in Psychology, Counselling, and Human Development from Simon Fraser University. Cheryl is also a Certified ADHD Clinical Services Provider with specialized training from the Hallowell Todaro ADHD & Behavioral Health Center in Seattle.
Approach to Counselling
Cheryl’s approach is warm, collaborative, and deeply practical. She helps clients explore what’s happening beneath the surface and teaches evidence-based tools that support real change. Drawing from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Executive Functioning strategies, Cheryl adapts each session to fit her client’s goals and personality.
Whether she’s working with a teen struggling with focus, a parent managing family conflict, or an adult feeling stuck in patterns of burnout, Cheryl helps clients find clarity, build resilience, and move forward with confidence.
Clients describe Cheryl as genuine, approachable, and easy to talk to. She is someone who brings both compassion and a touch of humor to help them feel at ease. Her sessions balance curiosity and structure, ensuring clients leave with both insight and tangible strategies they can use in daily life.
Core Areas of Focus
1. ADHD & Neurodivergence
Cheryl helps clients understand how ADHD and executive functioning challenges impact their relationships, work, and self-esteem. Through psychoeducation and personalized strategies, she supports both individuals and parents in creating systems that build success and confidence.
2. Parenting & Family Support
Cheryl works with parents and families to strengthen communication, manage conflict, and navigate behavioral or emotional challenges. Her goal is to help families move from frustration toward connection and understanding.
3. Anxiety & Depression
Using evidence-based strategies, Cheryl helps clients manage worry, low mood, and burnout. Together, they identify thought patterns and coping tools that support emotional balance and restore a sense of calm.
4. Children, Teens & Young Adults
Cheryl creates a safe, creative space for youth to express themselves through art, play, or conversation. She helps young clients build confidence, understand their emotions, and develop skills for navigating friendships, school stress, and identity.
5. Life Transitions & Identity
Major changes—like loss, career shifts, or family transitions—can leave people feeling ungrounded. Cheryl provides steady, compassionate support to help clients rediscover their strengths, build self-awareness, and move through change with purpose and confidence.
